The representation and contribution of Māori in film studies developing three areas: Hitori (History): a visual historiography showing images of Māori characters on film from advent to present; Hunga Mātakitaki (Audience Studies): (ā) kanorautanga (hapū and iwi diversity), (ē) Kaupapa Māori Research (and the importance of Whānau Kaupapa); and (ī)the development of a Rōpū Whānau research approach.
