Te Arawa; Ngāti Raukawa; Kai Tahu Arapera is currently a Manager at Te Kohanga Reo National Trust responsible for Policy, Research & Development. She has been involved with Te Köhanga Reo movement since 1982 and has actively participated in her children’s education from Te Köhanga Reo to Kura Kaupapa Māori, Wharekura and now Wānanga. Arapera’s doctoral study focuses on the child learning te reo Maori as well as the relationship of this acquisition to cultural interactions within their köhanga and that of their own whānau.
