Selwyn is currently Assistant Vice-Chancellor, Maori and Pasifika, at Massey University and prior to that Director of MANU AO Leadership Academy. He held senior management positions in the Mental Health Commission, Ministry of Health, Public Health Commission, and pharmaceutical industry. Recent publications include 'Turning the Hearts of the Children: Early Maori Leaders in the Mormon Church' (ed), (2014), 'The Spirit of Maori Leadership' (2013); and 'He Korero Anamata: Future Challenges for Maori' (co ed) (2013). Selwyn has a PhD from Massey University and a BA (Hons), MA, and MPM from Victoria University; and affiliates to Ngāti Toa, Ngāti Tuwharetoa, Ngāruahine, and Ngāti Tama.
