Re-editing and publishing thesis "... and did she cry in Māori?" Recovering, reassembling and restorying Tainui Ancestresses in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Writing children's books from thesis content (husband illustrator is a problem! On a slow boat to somewhere!). The restorying of women's traditions is important because they have usually been told, collected and rewritten by patriarchal minders of text (certainly the traditions that I have studied). This patriarchal minding has had an impact on what we and our children know and understand about the place of Māori women in traditional society. In my opinion this is a cause for concern.
While I am currently working towards publications for early childhood and young children, I will be expanding to encourage readership of rangatahi and adults.
