She worked in advisory and research positions in the Public Service until she began teacher training in the 1980s. Anne has taught in the primary and tertiary sectors. Anne moved home to Napier and took time out from teaching to work in community development, before returning to lecturing part time at Te Whare Takiura o Kahungunu (EIT). She completed a Masters in Professional Education and Training in 2004. Anne is currently completing a PhD on Māori Women Educators’ Pedagogy and Methodology at Deakin University, Geelong, Victoria Australia
